Mary's Meals

posted 24 May 2011, 05:27 by Wendy Carrigan
As the children demonstrated a keen interest in Malawi and retained a lot of their learning we have taken forward this interest to become the Backpack Project.  With the help and support of Mary's Meals.
The Mary's Meals vision is that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things, and that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education.
In 2002 Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow met 14 year old Edward in Malawi. He asked himwhat his dreams were in life:
"To have enough food to eat and to go to school one day."
This encounter led to Mary's Meals - an International movement to set up school feeding projects in communities where hunger and poverty stop children from gaining an education.

We have arranged for a representative from Mary's Meals to come and speak to the children about Malawi and our Backpack project on Wednesday 25th May.  We are hoping  to organise a presentation for parents/carers also, further details will be given after Wednesday's visit.
