Our Chicks! .... Mumble, George, Rosie and Fluffy (now named Forrest Gump) after his exceptional recovery from splayed legs have settled well into their new enclosure with Daisy and Buttercup the rabbits.  Their outdoor hen house has been ordered and we will prepare this for when they are old enough to venture outside. One of our parents has suggested we put out a donation box for them which can be filled with sawdust, hay, chickfeed etc.  Great idea, thank you as this will be a great help.

Bonus ball.....we were thinking of reintroducing this;  you buy a bonus ball for £1 per week and if your number is the bonus ball on Wednesday’s lotto draw you win £45

Football Cards....

Another possible fundraiser is our football cards, if you have a big family or would be able to take into your workplace please see Wendy for further details

Photographer .....We will distribute the photo proofs as soon as we get them back from Ali

Caterpillar cloakroom....please ensure you hang your child’s jacket on their own coathangers and store shoes in their labelled section

Easter ....We shall be having the Easter parties for each room on Thursday and we are hoping the Easter Bunny will come along! The nursery will be closed on Friday 30th and Monday 2nd April.  Term time and college funded children will be off until Monday 16th April.

We have 10 chicks!.....and the winner of the questionnaire is Evan’s Mum Kirsty.  We are going to keep 4 of them however, we need help in making them a home in the nursery.....so if you are or know of a joiner/handyman who would be willing to lend a hand, please let us know as we have just over a week to create this. To fund the other items we require to keep the chicks we plan to have a tombola and have a few stalls selling items such as hair accessories, toys etc. as well as a tombola and football cards, therefore if you have anything you can hand in for this it would be greatly appreciated.

Sports Relief

Thank you for all your donations, the children had a fabulous time and we shall be uploading some of the footage to the Sports Relief website.

Photographer .....Ali will be here on Wednesday, if you would like family photos taken please let Wendy know to enable us to book you a slot.

Zoe...will be finishing up on Thursday for maternity leave, we wish her the very best and look forward to meeting her new arrival in April.

World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day on 1st March by bringing in your favourite story and/or dressing up as your favourite character. We also have tokens to give out which you can use towards any book or there is also a selection of free books.  We would recommend ‘Oi Goat’ as we have the previous one ‘Oi Frog’ in nursery and the children really like it as it is a rhyming book

Hatching eggs

Our eggs are arriving on Tuesday!  Therefore, the Butterfly Room will commence their topic of life cycles which will continue their learning and understanding of this wonder of nature

Learning Journals                                                                                                 There has been a great response to the parental contributions in the Learning Journals.  It has been great seeing all the wonderful things the children have been doing at home and even extending and transferring their learning from the nursery

Hatching eggs    Amelia’s Grandad is providing us with all the equipment to enable us to hatch our very own chickens!  They are arriving at the end of February and he will do a talk for the children and we will continue their learning and understanding of this life cycle.

                                                                                                                    Authorisation codes

We are still waiting on a number of codes.  If you have received it either email the code to me or bring in immediately as funded sessions cannot be granted if there is no code assigned.  Likewise, if you have not received it we need to know in order to chase it up.

Trouser hangers

Do you have any spare trouser hangers at home?  If so please bring them in as they are a useful storage solution for our large books

Session times                                                                                                        We will shortly be implenting a late charge as an increasing amount of children are not being collected on time which has a direct impact on staffing and the changeover of sessions.  Please ensure children arrive and are collected at the appropriate times.  Your key worker will clarify times with you as there is a variety of sessions and wraparound care.  If you require additional sessions or extended care costs can be provided.

Spare clothes

Please ensure children have a change of clothes in their bags at all times, this is not only for accidents, but also if they spill milk or fall in the garden etc.

Week beginning 5th February

Authorisation codes                                                      I have been advised that the codes have been issued, therefore, should be with you in the next couple of days.  Codes must be brought to the nursery in order to claim and access your child’s funded placement.

Fee payments                                                            A wee reminder that fees must be paid in advance as per fee contract in order to access placement.

Care Home Visits                                                                                                Our visit to the Care Home was so successful that we have been asked to make this a regular thing, therefore, we have arranged a visit for next week.  Groups of children will have the opportunity to participate in block sessions as we feel this would be more beneficial to them and the residents.

In Service DayThe nursery will be closed on Monday 12th February for an in service day.  Term time children and also college funded placements will also be off on the Tuesday and Wednesday to return as normal on Thursday.
